Blood on the Streets - Captain Rowland Prangle and his men.

The Averridge Muster.

I am planning to create a series of battles that will form a small campaign, each set in one of the three villages of the riding. Averridge is going to be the final “Grand” Battle that will be influenced by smaller skirmishes in the other two villages (Shoodthorpe and Mayby).

Averridge boasts the largest army by far, forty infantry and fifteen light cavalry, as well as some interesting extras like Ten War-Hounds.

For the troops I will be using the intended Citadel C26 Men At Arms range. These are still available from Foundry miniatures. 

The bulk of the troops in Averrridge are under the command of Captain Rowland Prangle. The card counters on the back of the Gamemasters Guide have him mounted, but I am choosing to use the later dismounted version and have him lead his troops personally. All the troops represented by counters are pictured equipped with bows, but the text clearly states they are a mixture of bows and spears. I think I am going to increase this unit of spears to twenty, which will give me twenty-one with the captain, three ranks of Severn.

I have a choice to make, like all the fighting men in the miniature release, Rowland Prangle’s miniature was changed from the pre-slotta range, to one that made it on to the Slotta range. Mostly, For me, this was a shame as the original pre-slotta miniature had an on foot and a mounted version. For Rowland Prangle, as I intend to only have him on foot, I have decided to use the new version that was released in 1987.

Hello,

I have decided to stop dreaming and do something about this glorious pack of cardboard buildings.

The accompanying booklet has a few wonderful “Hooks” for scenarios, my ideas include.

·        A delivery of  Bugmans Ale with Bugmans Ranger escort, which is from the Booklet

·       The army of the Riding (From the booklet)

·       Chaos Beastmen, not the boring goat headed clones but the original Mutant types.

·       Chaos Dwarfs, obviously not the big hatted later variety but the original beautiful spiky ones

·       Goblins!

·       Hobgoblins! (orange ones)

I have been running games of Warhammer Fantasy roll play on and off for years so I rekon I can do a half decent job of writing up a Warhammer Battle scenario.

Right now I am painting up one of the units from the Army of the Riding. I will be posting them soon and some of my thoughts on the character models.

 This is my blog, 

It is going to be a place where I share my many Oldhammer projects. The focus will be Blood on the Streets which is an old GW village pack from 1985. I have a few other obscure old things I am interested in, and I can put them all here, in the hope it will de-clutter my old brain.

I have been in the hobby since the mid-eighties and I did buy a copy of Blood on the Streets when it was new, I was young and useless at model making, so sadly I ruined that set. Luckily, I found another copy years later (but before Oldhammer was really a thing and prices went sky high). I did a much better job at building those and I still have a few of the card buildings to build.

I have collected all the scenario miniatures, which was not easy! And I am steadily working through them. I am also building the Army, most of which can still be purchased from Foundry Miniatures (not the blink dogs though sadly)
